This book is about a fifteen year old girl named Becky Fletcher who's family moved from Missouri to Kansas because of the race for land other wise called the Cherokee Strip. On the trail they met a man named Jabe Storey and his son named Oren Storey. They were heading the same way as the Fletcher's were. They camped together that night. That night Becky saw Mr. Storey sharpen his knife as talked to her father. Becky excused herself to go to bed. A little while later Becky woke up to hear a funny sound. She climbed out of the wagon and went to see if their race horse was alright. The whole trip counted on the horses health because her father was going to ride him in the Cherokee Strip. Becky finally got to where her daddy tied him up, and when she got there the horse was gone. To find out where the horse was and some of the other adventures the Fletcher family had read the book. It is written by Aileen Fisher. This is a really old book. I would recommend this book to kids and teens who would enjoy a book about how the west was won.
