Once upon a time, there was a bird, He was a very thirsty bird so he set out in search of water. Upon searching, he found a great lake, so he bent down to take a drink. So intent on drinking he didn't notice that the ground started to shift beneath him, and he fell into the lake. Mortified at the fatal happening he started to swim toward the shore trying to save him before the great sleep took over him. He wasn't that far off so he quickly came to the shoreline and climbed onto land. He then fell flat right where he was and drifted into a deep lolling sleep.
Deep in slumber, he started to dream about his childhood. His parents where always away gathering food for him and never found time to appreciate him. For this he always thought that his parents hated him. He remembered how they would give him food, then leave, and come back again, feed him and leave him alone again. He had three other brothers and sisters but they had died in the great cold spell, so he was always alone.
He awoke from his slumber shivering. He was very depressed because of this dream, and decided he didn't want to live anymore. So he went to the highest tree he could find and jumped, keeping his wings as close to him body as possible so that he wouldn't float or let instinct take over, spreading his wings to take flight. So caught up was he in finding the tallest tree that he didn't realize that the tree stood right by the lake. Instead of falling into infinite peril, he lunged strait into the lake, and again had to swim to save his life, this time however the trip was long and gave him much time to think. By the time he had reached shore he realized he indeed wanted to live, or else he wouldn't have swam to save his life, so he started making plans on making his own nest.
He found a mate of which to have children with and they starting getting material to make a nest. They quickly prospered and had children. And so he started collecting food for his young and realized his parents hadn't hated him. He had thought wrongly of them because he hadn't been in their shoes, and hadn't realized how hard on them it was. He then smiled to himself and planned on making a trip to thank his parents for raising him to full health, and they all lived happily ever after.
